Educators Training: Empowering School First Responders
The Educators Training is an intensive program designed to equip all school personnel—including teachers, administrators, school counselors, dormitory staff, and teaching assistants—with practical, evidence-based tools to address mental health and substance use challenges.
This initiative transforms educators into effective first responders within the school environment.
Program Focus
- We address the expressed need among educators for skills and confidence in managing student mental health issues.
- The training introduces targeted school-based interventions, such as the
MOOD Classroom model, a structured mental wellness program designed for primary and secondary students.
Educators Are Empowered To:
- Recognize early warning signs of mental health and substance use issues for timely intervention.
- Reduce stigma and actively create safe, supportive school environments.
- Implement compassionate, effective interventions to support overall student well-being.
We are committed to making this program available across the region. Due to the cross-cutting nature of these challenges among students,
we are actively planning to expand this vital program to schools in Zambia and Kenya.
The program’s success has been demonstrated through the transformative 9-day intensive training conducted
at Serena Hotel Kampala in April 2025. The inaugural program equipped 112 educators,
significantly boosting their confidence and skill set while strengthening school communities in alignment
with our vision of empowering caregivers in stigma-free environments.
