Integrating MOOD Classroom Tools
Your Ally Foundation (YAF) is proud to collaborate with MOOD.
They provide MOOD Classroom, a free, evidence-based mental wellness program designed specifically for students
in grades 3 through 7 (middle and early high school levels). MOOD Classroom seamlessly integrates into the school day
with brief, engaging lessons that require no additional training for teachers.
At the heart of MOOD Classroom are over 50 scientifically backed Mood Tools—simple, fast, and effective
emotion regulation strategies that help young people manage stress, anxiety, and big emotions. These tools include
techniques such as Sour Candy Calm, Two-Handed Doodling, Wise Mind, and many more sensory,
physical, and cognitive exercises that build resilience and emotional regulation skills.
By incorporating MOOD Classroom into our teacher training programs, YAF equips educators and other caregivers
with practical resources to foster student well-being and emotional skills development. We have permission from
MOOD.org
to use their fully researched tools and program content, ensuring students have access to trusted, engaging methods
to navigate emotional challenges.
Notably, in April 2025, YAF conducted an intensive educators’ training program at
Serena Hotel, Kampala, in partnership with MOOD.org,
Ally Integrated Health Care, and others. This training equipped 112 teachers, school administrators,
counselors, and support staff from middle and high schools in Uganda with knowledge and skills to recognize,
reduce stigma, and support mental health and substance use interventions using the MOOD model. This milestone event
reflects YAF’s commitment to building school mental health capacity through evidence-based collaborations.
MOOD’s mission aligns perfectly with YAF’s vision of empowering young people with free, fast, and effective
mental health strategies in a stigma-free environment—supporting students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
